The people have spoken!
The revolution has started!
After 10 years of totalitarian regime, and 10 years after the bloody March 1, former President of Armenia, Serj Sarkisyan, sat at his throne yet again, this time as the prime minister of new parliamentarian corrupt government of Armenia. But no more!
The people have had enough of this totalitarian regime, they have had enough of the corrupt government headed by the corrupt Serj and his mafia, they have had enough seeing their children going to bed in hunger, they have had enough of seeing the oligarchs’ monopolies, raising prices not only on food, but also on gas, electricity, and even water. They have had enough seeing people arrested for their political views, they have had enough of the corruption which was created for the past 10 years by this regime. They just had had enough!
After 10 days of constant protests, led by Nikol Pashinyan, the people successfully forced Serj to resign from his reign. Almost 200,000 people went to the streets demanding his resignation. The Republic Square located in the center of Yerevan was filled with people demanding justice. After Serj’s and Nikole’s unsuccessful negotiation, which took place on April 22nd at Marriot Hotel, Serj stood up and left when Pashinyan demanded his resignation on behalf of the people. Shortly after, Pashinyan was kidnapped by unknown people, dressed in civilian clothes, pushed into an unknown car with no license plate, which drove away in unknown direction. For 24 hours the people didn’t know where Pashinyan was, yet they continued their protests, multiplying in numbers by every hour, until he was released the next day. Within 3 hours of Pashinyan’s release, Serj made an announcement on his official page, that he is resigning from his position as the Prime Minster.
Below is the translation of his resignation letter:
“Dear Compatriots, I appeal to all citizens of the Republic of Armenia, adults and my beloved young people, women and men, in the streets, appealing to those who day and night stand in the streets, to those who have been in the streets for days and nights, I appeal to our brave soldiers and officers on the border, party members, all political forces and figures. Nikol Pashinyan was right. I was wrong. The created situation has several solutions, but I will not go to any of them. That's not mine. I leave the post of the country's prime minister. The movement on the street is against me. I fulfill your demand. Peace, harmony and logic to our country. Thank you.
Serj Sarkisyan”
However, the HHK party, the president of which is still Serj, is not turning over the government to the people. According to the constitution of Armenia, when the Prime Minister resigns, the government automatically submits its resignation, and the power of the government is turned over to the people. However, the HHK party insists that they will hold an early election of the new Prime Minister on May 1 at the parliament, where the majority is still the corrupt HHK. The unrest still continues, as the people are demanding their own candidate for the Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan.
The elimination of the corrupt, anti-democratic system established in Armenia is inevitable! It needs to become a reality soon, as the people of Armenia have had ENOUGH!
Serjik…. LEAVE… you have no place in the government already. Stop getting involved in the current events, as it’s NOT your country and these are NOT your people.
FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT TILL the END!
