Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s Supporters Apply to CEC to Annul Serzh Sargsyan’s Registration

Interesting development, although hardly anything will come out of this. At any rate, as ArmInfo reports, Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s supporters have applied to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) of Armenia to annul presidential candidate, Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan’s registration. During his meeting with journalists at Hayatsk club, on Tuesday, the Press-secretary of the Armenian ex-president’s campaign headquarters Arman Musinyan has also told the journalists, that the means being spent on the campaign by the candidate from power aren’t evidently from Sargsyan’s election campaign fund. If the CEC fails to annul Sargsyan’s registration within 3 days, the oppositionists will apply to court “to acknowledge the inactivity” of the CEC. He added that numerous facts of violations of electoral legislation have already been presented to international observers.

Needless to say, that one doesn’t have to be an international observer, to understand that there are a large number of violations so far - and all I can wish for LTP supporters - is luck, so they can succeed in annulling Serzh Sargsyan’s registration. Like many other voters I can’t help stating, that Serzh Sargsyan’s election will be the worst thing happening to this country - it will mean consolidation of power in one of the most shrewd and corrupt politicians Armenia has ever seen.

On the other hand, Levon Ter-Petrossian keeps doing everything possible, to take the place of the worst candidate Serzh Sargsyan has been occupying so far. Having embraced oligarchs like Grzo and corrupt judges like Pargev Ohanyan in his team of supporters, LTP now continues to voice his support for widely hated Vano Siradeghyan, Minister of Interior and Mayor of Yerevan in the times of LTP rule, and is also apparently courting the richest oligarch in the country - Gagik Tsarukyan, as the Armenia Election Monitor 2008 reports.
