Chairman of the Center of Parliamentarism in Armenia, Ruben Torosyan, has reported the Prosecutor General's Office and Central Election Commission about 44 alleged violations, which as he said, might have a significant impact on the February 18 presidential election. The copies have been sent to the OSCE/ODIHR and other international organizations. "If earlier the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) carried out canvassing campaign by granting membership cards, informing about the government's economic programs or using other ‘secret' methods, today they are using the entire state media for government-supported presidential candidate [Serzh Sargsyan]. Obviously, electoral violations committed by the HHK acquire a new quality in every and each election and everyone, including the OSCE/ODIHR, turns a blind eye to these violations, considering them as a "soft" form. And again, people who stand behind these violations are state officials who shall ex officio defend the rights of Armenian citizens. Among them are Serzh Sargsyan, Hovik Abrahamyan, Tigran Sargsyan, Arman Mkrtumyan, Karen Andreasyan, Ruben Sahakyan, Vigen Sargsyan, Artur Baghdasaryan, Alexan Harutyunyan and many others. The most ridiculous is that the person holding the post of the president, who has nor yet been registered as a presidential nominee, is engaged in the canvassing ...which is a rough breach in the country's general elections," Mr Torosyan said in his report.
