The accusations that attempts are made to consign the March 2008 deadly clashes to oblivion are absurd, says Gagik Jhangiryan, a senior member of the Armenian National Congress (HAK). "Only through the efforts of HAK did the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) refer to the tragic events in its resolutions on Armenia. Thanks to these efforts, the chapter of March 1 cannot be considered as closed today," the HAK MP said. HAK is going to propose the National Assembly to create a new commission to investigate the March 1 bloodshed. But as Gagik Jhangiryan says, HAK does not have enough representatives in the legislative body to display the initiative. "Yes, we have few MPs. Had we managed to form a coalition with other opposition forces we would have secured a total of 44 votes to convene an extraordinary meeting of the National Assembly," said Mr. Jhangiryan. In conclusion, the HAK representative reminded everyone that before the May 6 parliamentary elections they did not have any lever but continued to raise the issue of March 1.
