The opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) issued a statement on Friday saying that the police and national Security Service have blocked the roads to the capital ahead of another rally at Liberty Square. "The police have blocked the main routes from Ashtarak, Artashat, Armavir, Etchmiadzin, Talin, ABovyan, Charentsavan, Baghramyan, Hrazdan, Sisian, Sevan, Eghvard, Gyumri, Vanadzor, Masis, Aparan, Martuni where plainclothes police officers reportedly intimidate drivers and cabman, banning their entry to the capital. Police deployed on inter-city roads are stopping minibuses and sending passengers back to their homes. The information has been confirmed by ANC regional structures. The regime's fear is conditioned by the opposition's intention to present a declaration on political and legal basis for Serzh Sargsyan's resignation at its rally. The authorities are trying their best to thwart the rally and keep people away from the rally by force. The ANC calls on everyone not to give in the authorities' unlawfulness and attend the rally.
