As every Friday, the relatives and wives of the Armenian political prisoners today gathered outside the office of the RA Prosecutor General vociferating "Freedom to political prisoners," "Free and independent Armenia."
According to Sona Muradyan, the protests proved efficient as the number of political prisoners has reduced from 100 to 14 in Armenia.
The action was attended by Grigor Voskerchyan, head of the Abovyan office of the Armenian National Congress and other senior representatives.
According to Mr. Voskerchyan, the protests speak of the participants' high political consciousness and political beliefs.
"We do not expect the political prisoners to be freed in a day. The protests prove that a layer of the society is determined to struggle for its political freedoms and for a legal and jural country," he said.
"I think that the political prisoners have more interior freedom today. They behave heroically and contribute to the establishment of a civil society. Their detention will help waken public consciousness and awareness," he said.
The protesters handed a letter to the Prosecutor's office with a demand to release their husbands and reveal the perpetrators of the deadly clashes of March 1, 2008.
