The Armenian National Congress (HAK) is holding a rally in Yerevan at 5:00 March 1. Although the City Hall has sanctioned the rally, residents of marzes are denied entry to the capital.
Yesterday evening residents of Kotayk marz already knew that the routes to Yerevan will be closed today. Those who arrive in taxis are doubtful whether they will get to their destination as even taxis are being stopped on the way.
HAK has issued a statement condemning authorities' recurrent attempts to restrict people's right to move.
"The Armenian National Congress has got information on the government's illegalities related to the upcoming March 1 rally. The regime tries to hold back the Armenian population from participating in the rally by distorting "explanations" from people. All roads leading to Yerevan are closed.
HAK condemns recurrent illegality of the regime and announces it will have no impact on the March 1 rally as well as on our further struggle," reads the statement.
