ARMAN BABAJANIAN WAS TO BE RELEASED ON MAY 17

“Arman Babajanian should be conditionally released,” considers RA Ombudsman Armen Harutyunian on the grounds that “Arman Babajanian has never been imprisoned before; no charge has ever been brought against him”. The Ombudsman also based his estimation on the latest statements of various international reporting and law organizations.

Surveys of RA Office of Human Rights Defender show that Editor-in-Chief of “Zhamanak Yerevan” Daily Arman Babajanian was to have been released on May 17, 2007. However the claims of the “Nubarashen” and the “Hospital of Convicts” Penitentiaries were rejected.

By the way, a protest action is organized in defence of Arman Babajanian at 19:00, July 15.
